Visitor Information

Innisfree is open, rain or shine, from 10 am to 5 pm, Wednesday through Sunday (weekends only after Columbus Day). The garden opens in late April and closes for the season in early November. We are also open to the public on federal holidays and for special events throughout the season.

Come ready to be outdoors. Wear walking shoes and plan accordingly for sun exposure and insects.

It takes about 90 minutes to explore the garden at a leisurely pace, longer for the enthusiast. The shortest path around the lake is about 1.3 miles long.

Check-in

Our Visitors Services Staff will greet you in the parking lot. Advanced reservations are strongly encouraged as parking is limited, and we reach capacity during some holidays and popular weekends. You may also pay at the garden with a credit card or cash.

Accessibility

Accessibility depends on an individual’s situation, but the varied terrain and surfaces make wheelchair or stroller access difficult. The terrain at Innisfree varies but is often steep and uneven, and there are some steps. There are no paved paths, and walking surfaces include gravel, lawn, pine needles, and packed earth.

There are chairs and benches throughout the garden.

Pets

The garden does not permit pets, emotional support animals, comfort animals, or therapy dogs. Only ADA Title III service animals are allowed. Please review the ADA’s service animal regulations for clarification and guidelines.

Food and Drinks

Guests may bring food and non-alcoholic drinks to our open-air picnic area. The picnic area is between visitor check-in, the parking area, and the lake. Some tables overlook the lake. While Innisfree has no food service, many restaurants and markets are nearby. Picnicking is not allowed in other areas of the garden.

Please carry trash and recyclables away or place them in the receptacles in the picnic area and near the restrooms.

Restrooms

The only restrooms on site are in the parking area.

Health and Safety

Children must be supervised at all times.

Smoking (including e-cigarettes) and alcohol are prohibited.

Pay attention to signs around the garden that limit access to certain areas. Do not climb trees or rocks.

Drones are prohibited.

Please Respect the Garden and Your Fellow Visitors

Keep noise levels at a moderate level since sound travels exceptionally well across the lake. Do not use portable radios or other sound reproductive devices.

Stay on paths to keep from damaging plants. Do not take cuttings, seeds, or plants.

Blankets or chairs are not allowed in the garden.

Photo shoots must be approved and scheduled in advance. (Read more about photoshoots).
